VISA INFORMATION
1. Azerbeijan Visa
An appropriate visitor’s visa is required for all travelers visiting Azerbeijan. It is a two-step process where the visitor should get an official letter of invitation from a company authorized by the Azerbaijan Ministries of Foreign and Internal Affairs called Visa Support Document or Invitation. This invitation should go along with the application form and two passport size photos and an original of the passport to the Azerbaijan Consulate in order to process the visa. 2. Bangladesh Visa
Visa is required by all except nationals of Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Bhutan, Dominica, Fiji, Gambia, Grenada, Guinea-Bissau, Jamaica, Guyana, Honduras, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Montserrat, Papua New Guinea, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, Uruguay, Vatican City and Zambia for stays of up to 90 days. Validity of visa for single entry is 6 months from date of issue for stays of up to 90 days. For multiple-entry: it is 6-12 months from date of issue. Stays are for a maximum of 90 days each.
3. Cambodia Visa
All overseas visitors are able to obtain Cambodia visa once they embark at the airport. It is no longer necessary to get the visa stamp at the Cambodian Embassy before the visit. Travelers who would like to prolong their stay in Cambodia may extend their visa at the Department of Immigration situated just opposite the Pochentong Airport. The visa may be extended for 30 days against service charge. If the stay is likely to extend more than a month, then it is ideal to get a Business visa with three months validity.
4. China Visa
Chinese visa is a permit issued by the Chinese visa authorities to those foreigners who want to enter into, exit from or transit through the Chinese territory. A single or double entry visa is normally valid for three months form the date of issue. The validity of Multi-entry visas is from six months to five years. Duration may vary and it is possible to extend the length of stay whenever appropriate. It should be noted that entry into China from Hong Kong or Macao is subject to a special permit. Applicants who are intending to stay with relatives in China will be required to show an invitation letter from concerned relatives by way of confirmation.
5. Indonesia Visa
Nationals of all countries intending to stay for more than 30 days in Indonesia also have to apply for the appropriate visa (tourist, business, social-cultural, etc.) at an overseas Indonesian Consulate or Foreign Mission before departing for Indonesia. However, citizens of Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam will be issued on arrival a stay permit for 30 days free of charge upon presentation of a passport which is valid at least for another 6 months. This stay permit cannot be extended or converted into another type of visa. Another feature, Visa on Arrival (VoA) facility is available for nationals of Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Maldives, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, People's Republic of China, Poland, Portugal, Quatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States of America. Citizens of countries neither on the VoA nor Visa-Free lists are required to apply for a visa overseas before making a trip to Indonesia.
6. Kazakhstan Visa
All nationalities require visa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs approves the application in Kazakstan, and notifies the Kazakstan Embassies in other countries, issues the visa (or by bilateral agreement, visa can be issued by the Russian Embassy in countries where there is no Kazakstan Embassy). However, Citizens of Canada, USA, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom do not need an invitation for obtaining a single entry diplomatic, official, business, home stay or tourist visas (up to 30 days).
7. Kyrgyztan Visa
All foreign nationals, except for Japanese, Turks, and Kazakhs, are required to obtain visas to enter the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. Foreign tourists are generally admitted to Laos for 15 days with a visa on arrival or for 30 days. It is sometimes possible to get an extension for an additional 15 days by submitting an application through a tour agency. Foreign tourists planning on entering Laos at any international checkpoint where visas on arrival are not available must obtain a visa in advance. A Laos tourist visa is usually issued for a single entry within three months from the date of issue for a period of stay not exceeding 30 days. The visa may be extended in Laos for further 15 days.
8. Macau Visa
A visa is not required for tourist visits of up to 30 days. Valid passports are required. Passports should be valid for 30 days beyond the intended period of stay in Macau. Because many neighboring areas require six months validity remaining on the passport, U.S. citizens planning travel beyond Macau should ensure that their passports are valid for at least six months from the date of their proposed entry into such areas.
9. Malaysia Visa
Foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia must apply and obtain a visa in advance at any Malaysian Representative Office abroad before entering the country. Visa, which has been granted, is not absolute guarantee that the holder will be allowed to enter Malaysia. The final decision lies with the Immigration Officer at the entry point. Single Entry Visa is issued to foreign nationals for a period of three months from the date of issue. Multiple entry visa is valid for a period within three to twelve months from the date of issue.
10. Maldives Visa
Maldives issues free 30 days visa upon arrival for all visitors. Visitors stepping in the Republic of Maldives should possess a valid international travel document issued by the government of concerned sovereign state. Besides this, possession of a valid return air ticket to a destination where the passenger has permission to enter is required along with necessary visas for their onward journey to the next destination.
11. Myanmar Visa
A tourist visa allows a stay of 28 days extendable for an additional 14 days. A valid passport with entry visa is required for all visitors. A business visa allows a stay of 10 weeks, extendable up to 12 months on case-by-case basis. E.V.T (package) visa is issued upon receiving a letter of invitation from a tour company. In accordance with the rules and regulations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Hotel and Tourism, an authorized travel and tours company can obtain the Visa on Arrival (VOA) if their clients do not get the visa from the Myanmar Embassy.
12. Nepal Visa
A visa is required to enter Nepal. Nepal has announced a new policy of waiving visa fee for any tourist visiting the country for a period of 3 days. Similarly tourists coming from South Asian countries (SAARC) as well as neighboring People's Republic of China will also get free visa to Nepal. Similar arrangements have been made to provide free visa for any national for re-entry to Nepal provided those tourists have stayed at least for 15 days in the country in the visa year (Jan-Dec).
13. Pakistan Visa
Pakistan stipulates everyone to get visa in advance. Immigration check posts at Pakistani Airports is authorized to issue 30 days landing permit to the tourists entering Pakistan. Regional Passport Offices in Pakistan are authorized to allow initial three months entry visa to the tourists and to allow one extension up to three months. They are further authorized to grant entry visa to the tourists (except the nationals of the countries borne on negative list) entering Pakistan on landing permit for a period of three months from the date of entry into Pakistan, charging visa fee fixed on reciprocal basis.
14. Singapore Visa
A valid visa is mandated for the nationals of Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China (PR), CIS, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Laos, Lebanon, Libya, Myanmar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Vietnam, Yemen and holders of Palestinian Authority passports, who intend to visit Singapore. Other nationals require a social visit pass, which is issued on arrival (at the discretion of the Immigration Officer) provided the traveler holds a passport valid for 6 months beyond date of departure, confirmed onward or return travel documentation, and sufficient funds to cover expenses for the duration of stay. For nationals holding British and Irish passports, the maximum length of stay is 30 days, for other nationals the maximum length of stay is 14 days. For stays over 3 months, applications must be made for a Long Term Social Visit Pass, for which a local sponsor is required. The maximum extension is 90 days per 12 months.
15. Uzbekistan Visa
All except those who are nationals of CIS states require visas. The exceptions to this are nationals of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan who are required to obtain a visa to travel to Uzbekistan. All visitors to Uzbekistan must carry a passport that is valid during for the period of their visit, no matter of what nationality they are. Visa applications must be made to an Uzbek embassy.
16. Tajikistan Visa
Anyone who visits Tajikistan must possess a visa. The only exceptions are citizens of the CIS Customs Union member states (Russia, Belorus, Kazakstan and Kirghyzstan). In 2003, Tajikistan eased procedures for visa support for citizens of the EU, USA and Japan, for tourist visas of up to one month. A visa support letter is still required, but it can be obtained more quickly than before. Some other areas require special permission to visit, e.g. Nurek Hydroelectric Power Station or Lake Zorkul. If intended to visit any restricted areas it should be mentioned while applying for visa support. Although it is possible to obtain permission after arrival in Tajikistan this takes days or weeks.
17. GEORGIA Visa
Visas are no longer required for the citizens of the USA, Canada, Japan, Israel, Switzerland and countries of the European Union to travel to Georgia for up to 90 days. Visa applicants of other countries require the following
- The applicant’s passport must be valid until at least 3 months after the expiration of the visa, and the passport must contain at least two blank pages.
- A recently taken passport-size photograph of the applicant.
- A duly completed and signed application form of the applicant.
- Appropriate Consular fee.
It is recommended to apply for visa the country of applicant’s residence. The citizens can obtain Georgian entry visas at the following consular-visa services located at the border points of the airports in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, at the ports of Batumi and Poti, also at the "Tsiteli Khidi" (Georgian-Azerbaijan state border, except the citizens of the Russian Federation), "Sadakhlo" (Georgian-Armenian state border, except the citizens of the Russian Federation), "Sarphi" (Georgian-Turkish state border, only for the Turkish citizens), "Vale" (Georgian-Turkish state border, only for the Turkish citizens), and "Kazbegi" (Georgian-Russian state border, only for the citizens of the Russian Federation).
18. MONGOLIA Visa
Everyone needs a visa, and it is valid for up to 30 days. One can pass in transit without a visa, provided he has a ticket and a visa for his next destination. However, the following can enter without Mongolia without a visa.
1. Hong Kong - 14 days for all type of passports. There is no visa fee for diplomatic and official passports. Ordinary passport holders pay visa fee if they travel for more than 14 days.
2. Israel - 30 days for all type of passports
3. Kazakhstan - 90 days for all type of passports
4. Malaysia - 1 month for all type of passports
5. Philippines - 21 days for all type of passports
6. Singapore - 14 days for all type of passports
Single entry/exit and transit visas are valid for entry within 90 days from the date of issue. Multiple entry visas are valid for a period of 6 months. Those who are planning to stay over 30 days are required to register at the Office of Immigration, Naturalization and Foreign Citizens. In this regard, it is recommended to contact the entity that invited the traveler to Mongolia.
19. North Korea visa
All nationals require visas. Two types of visas issued are ordinary visa and tourist visa. Passports must be valid for six months. It is advisable to obtain the visa before departure. This visa can only be arranged through the concerned tour operator. The visa will take 7 days for issuance and valid for restrictive dated period. For stays of over 24 hours registration with the MFA is required, although most hotels and travel agents will automatically do this for the visitor. For further details it is advisable to contact the nearest embassy prior to departure.
20. SOUTH KOREA Visa
All visitors must have a valid passport and onward and return tickets. Visas are required for all other purposes. Visitors for sightseeing or transit with confirmed outbound tickets may stay in Korea up to 30 days without visas, except the following. a. Stateless Persons b. Nationals of such countries or regions such as Albania, Cambodia, Cuba, Laos, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Aremenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Macedonia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Ghana, India, Iran, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Philippines, Sri lanka, Pakistan and Palestine Types of visa are Single-entry (valid up to 90 days): Multiple-entry (more than 90 days). Nationals of Italy, Japan, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan (China), Thailand and UK can obtain a visa valid up to six months free of charge. Nationals of Pakistan are required to have a valid visa due to suspension of the Visa Exemption Agreement. If the national has a visa waiver agreement with the Republic of Korea, they must present a passport, a written paper outlining the reason for visiting Korea (DPR) and E/D Card (Immigration Card) to the Immigration officer at an inspection counter. For a national who cannot fulfill the necessary requirements and entry conditions (such as the expiration of passport validity) due to unavoidable circumstances, or is required for further review before a visa can be issued, a conditional entry permit may be granted with a validity of up to 72 hours.
21. THAILAND Visa
Any foreigner wishing to enter Thailand is required to obtain a visa from a Thai Embassy or Consulate-General. However, there are nationals of certain countries who do not require a visa, provided they meet the requirements.
a.Nationals of countries which are exempted from visa requirements when entering Thailand for tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay for a period not exceeding 30 days, according to the Interior Ministerial Announcements.
b.Nationals of countries which have bilateral agreements with Thailand on the exemption of visa requirements.
c.Nationals of specific countries may apply for a visa upon arrival in Thailand. Travellers with this type of visa are permitted to enter and stay in Thailand for a period not exceeding 15 days.
d.Travellers from/through the countries which have been declared Yellow Fever Infected Areas must have an International Health Certificate proving that they have received a Yellow Fever vaccination.
e.Nationals of certain countries are required to apply for a visa only at the Thai Embassy or Consulate-General in their home/residence country or at the designated Thai Embassy.
Applicants are required to apply for a visa in person. However, Thai embassies and consulates in some countries and in some cases may also accept applications sent through representatives, authorized travel agencies or by post. The period of visa validity is different from the period of stay. The visa validity is a period during which a visa can be used to enter Thailand. Generally, the validity of a visa is 3 months, but in some cases, we also issue visas valid for 6 months or 1 year. The period of stay depends on the type of visa and is granted by an immigration officer upon arrival at the port of entry. For example, the period of stay for a transit visa does not exceed 30 days, for a tourist visa does not exceed 60 days and for a non-immigrant visa does not exceed 90 days from the arrival date. Travellers who wish to stay longer than such period may apply for extension of stay at offices of the Immigration Bureau in Bangkok.
22. TURKEY Visa
Among different types of Turkey visas the most common for touring Turkey is single entry tourist visa, valid for 3 months. A Turkey visa for overseas passport holders is required when traveling to the country. Types of visas are Tourist Single, Tourist Multiple, Business Single, Business Multiple. Length of stay is 3 months and 1 year. Inbound travelers are required to hold documents for onward or return travel, and sufficient funds for the period of their stay. Entry may be refused to those of unkempt appearance. Passport and visa requirements are liable to change at short notice.
23. SRILANKA Visa
Visas are issued on arrival for 30 days for nationals of most countries. Extension of tourist visas is handled by the Department of Immigration and Emigration. All the countries in the SAARC region are exempt from visa. Multiple Entry / Transit / Visit visa applications should be made to the nearest Sri Lanka Mission. In the absence of such a mission arrangements could be made through the Dept. of Immigration and emigration in Sri Lanka, to enter and stay in the country. Validity of the travel document that is not expired should cover beyond a period of two months, the period of the applicants’ intended stay in Sri Lanka.
24. BHUTAN Visa
Valid passports and an entry visa are essential except Indian & Bangladeshi National. There are two ways of entering Bhutan: by air to Paro Airport or by road to the Bhutanese border town of Phuntosholing. All travelers entering the country by road must ensure that they have the necessary documentation for transiting through that part of India to Phuntsholing. Travelers bound for Bhutan are permitted only as a member of a commercially organized tour group. Once the visa has been processed a visa number will be sent to the concerned traveler (automatically forwarded to all Bhutan's National Air Carrier: Druk Air). When entering Bhutan, the traveler receives a visa valid for 2 weeks from Paro airport. Visa extensions can be granted if the stay is likely to lengthen.
25. PHILIPPINES Visa
Countries like Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Belize, Bosnia-Herzegovina, China, Peoples Republic of (PROC), Croatia, Cuba, East Timor, Egypt, Estonia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Georgia, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lebanon, Libya, Lithuania, Moldova, Nauru, Nigeria, North Korea (Democratic People's Republic of Korea), Pakistan, Palestine, Russian Federation, Sierra Leone, Slovenia - Regular passport holders only; diplomatic and official passport holders do not need entry visas, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tonga, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Yemen, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Holders of Taiwanese passports need visas before arriving. The inbound traveler gets 21 days visa on arrival, which can be extended up to 60 days. Group tour visas filed by accredited travel agencies may be released within 24 to 48 hours. Applicants should be guided by the documentary and procedural requirements concerning applications for entry visas to the Philippines of PRC passport holders.
26. INDIA Visa
Indian visas are necessary for all foreigners visiting India. Tourist visas are issued either for one month or for six months. Entry into India has to be within one month from the date of issue for the one month visa and the latter is issued for six month from the date of issue. Fees for both the categories are same.
27. LAOS Visa
Visas to foreign tourists are issued upon arrival in Laos at most border crossings. A passport and visa, and two passport size photographs and service charge approximately $30 are required at Wattay Airport, Vientiane; Friendship Bridge, Vientiane; and Luang Prabang Airport. Foreign tourists are generally admitted to Laos for 15 days with a visa on arrival or for 30 days with a visa issued at a Lao embassy. The Department of Immigration in Vientiane will only extend tourist visas for one day. It is sometimes possible to get an extension for an additional 15 days by submitting an application through a tour agency. Foreigners who overstay in Laos risk arrest, and they will be fined $5 for each day upon departure. Foreign tourists planning on entering Laos at any international checkpoint where Visas on Arrival are not available must obtain a visa in advance. Laos business visa is usually issued for a single entry within three months from the date of issue for a period of stay not to exceed 30 days. The visa may be extended in Laos for a further 30 days.
28. VIETNAM Visa
Only citizens of Korea, Japan & Scandinavians can visit Vietnam without an entry visas (valid for visit within 30 days). All other citizens are required to get an entry visa before departure or a pre-approved entry visa (visa is issued on arrival at Vietnam’s International Airports) issued before arrival in Vietnam. It is recommended to obtain entry visa by having a valid passport stamped prior to departure by applying to any one of the Vietnam Embassies / Consulates worldwide. However, if a particular city does not have a Vietnamese Embassy,E-TravelVietnam.com is ready to help if the traveler wishes to avoid administrative procedures (from 4 to 10 days), which comes along with visa approvals at embassies outside Vietnam. The procedure is to fill up the form issued by the E.TravelVietnam.com and copy and paste into a word document, fill and send by fax or email. E.TravelVietnam.com will obtain the visa approval code service for the intending traveler. The following procedure is to get the official Vietnamese stamp of approval on the passport at any of Vietnamese Embassies. After such an approval, the Embassy will send notification (by fax or email) and fax the approval to the traveler’s desired Embassy or Consulate. The intending traveler needs to take that approval with his passport to that Embassy or Consulate to get the visa stamp on his passport, which is done on the same day.
29. TIBET Visa
If the intending traveler is coming to Lhasa from Kathmandu, he should better get Chinese visa from Kathmandu because no matter he has already got the visa in his country or not, he must get a visa in Kathmandu, which is regulated in an official memo between China and Nepal. All kinds of people can get Tibet permit through a travel agency except diplomats, journalists, and government officials who should travel to Tibet under the arrangement by the Foreign Affairs Office of Tibet Government. After having a permit, a travel agency can buy the air tickets, and the intending traveler can pass the check-in at the airport and the checkpoint reroute with the permit. Only the guide could hold the permit after the traveler establishes himself on Tibetan land. He is not allowed to bring with it and travel anywhere he wishes because except Lhasa he needs another permit know as "Aliens’ Permit" lest he is stopped by the police. There is a service charge (fixed by the government) to get the Tibet permit. One has to apply for the travel permit at least 10 days prior to his entry date. No travel agency can provide "permit-only" service.
30. JAPAN Visa
A visa is an entry permit issued by Japanese government offices overseas (embassies and consulates, which are the branch offices of the Foreign Affairs Ministry) for entering Japan. Japan has adopted a system of law where visas and residency qualifications are considered separately. Therefore, after acquiring a visa at Japanese government office overseas, a person needs to receive an entry permit from an immigration inspector when they enter Japan and have their residency qualifications determined. Foreign nationals who arrive in Japan from countries that have signed the Visa Exemption Agreement, can enter Japan without a visa, unless they are planning to work in Japan for a some period of time.
31. BRUNEI DARUSS Visa
Passport holders coming to Brunei can stay up to one month without visa, but the passport must be valid for six months longer than their intended stay in Brunei. There are many opportunities on how to book one’s holidays in Brunei. The inbound traveler can either book his entire trip from abroad with an outbound tour operator or book just your flight and arrange tours with a local agent either from home or locally, or go entirely independently.
32. TURKMENISTAN Visa
All foreign travellers to Turkmenistan require a visa which in return is subject to a visa support letter or Letter of Invitation (LOI) approved by the Turkmen Government. The approval process currently requires up to 3 weeks. The only low cost alternative to a Tourist visa is to apply for a 3...7-Day Transit visa which implies no booking requirements.
